This 40’ New Haven box car with Bettendorf trucks was built in 1941 and this paint scheme ran through the 1940s and 50s. New Haven Railroad was founded in 1872 and headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut. Even though it made it through several bankruptcies, the railroad eventually became unprofitable and was rolled into the Penn Central railroad conglomerate in 1968.
